Frequently Asked Questions
Where did this money come from?
There are a variety of ways this money may have become available, such as foreclosures, tax/sheriff sales, estates, tax returns, uncashed checks, deposit boxes, inheritances, stocks and bonds, pensions, refunds, etc.
Why haven't these agencies contacted me directly?
The agencies may not have up to date contact information for you, or they may be using other methods of communication such as mailings, public notices, or social media. Additionally, events such as postal mistakes, misspelled names, change of address, bankruptcy, and/or deaths may have prevented the notices from getting to you.
How do you know that I am entitled to these funds?
Each unclaimed account contains specific information, such as name and previous address, which we can further research in order to locate you.
Is it really No out-of-pocket expense to the client?
That is correct! C&T Surplus Disclosure Advocates will only be paid from the funds recovered. Once we have successfully claimed the money on your behalf, we will deduct our flat fee from those funds to cover our time and expenses. If we do not recover any money, we will not charge you, the client, or receive payment. (Fees are between 10 % to 30% depending on the services needed but will be stated in your contract.)
How long will it take to claim this money?
It depends on the specific situation. Each claim is unique and the amount of time it takes to process the claim can vary greatly. Most agencies take an average of 3-8 weeks once the claim is filed by C&T Surplus Disclosure Advocates.
How do I get started?
The first step is signing the contract/agreement which is included in the initial document packet. Upon receiving the agreement, we will prepare the necessary forms and documents required to submit the claim (Affidavit and Specific Power of Attorney). Once executed, all you have to do is wait for the check to arrive. We diligently advocate for you with clear and concrete communication from start to finish.
